Former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls movement has expressed support for the Amnesty International “Stop Torture” Walk in Abuja on Friday 26 June. She expressed this during the usual sit-out of Bring Back Our Girls Group. “It is quite impressive to see that Amnesty International is doing everything in ensuring that fundamental human rights are protected and defended which is one of our core values” she added further that Bring Back Our Girls welcome members of Amnesty International at anytime they feel like joining the movement”.

Stop Torture which is one of the current Amnesty International project in Nigeria and four other countries of the world namely: Morocco, Western Sahara, Mexico, Phillipines and Uzbekistan. These five countries, according to recent findings by Amnesty International confirmed them to have highest number of torture cases in the last 7 years.

According to Dotun Roy, Activist cum blogger and the Lead convener of Stop Torture Walk in Abuja, said aside from the fact that 26 June is a day set aside by UN to show solidarity for torture victims across the world, we equally want legislation action taken in tackling the problem of torture. we would like to see torture victims get justice and also see our criminal justice strengthened by Federal Government. he alluded.
