ACF Urges Northern Youths to uphold Sardauna’s legacy

The Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim A. Coomassie has called on the Northern youths to uphold the legacies of Late Sir Ahmadu Bello the Sardauna of Sokoto in order to develop the region and the nation in general.

Coomassie who made this call yesterday in Kaduna at the 1st Northern Nigerian Youth Summit said the Northern youths, through the concept and initiative of the summit, have proven that they are more than ready to champion the course of developing the region.

He also noted that the youths have what it takes to turn around the plights facing the North and to enhance the economic, social and political development of the region.

“For the first time in many decades, young people from the North have decided to take their rightful position as leaders of today and not tomorrow. The  legacy Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna, left in this region can now be renewed only if the Northern youths are ready to work together in unity, understanding and selflessness to move the region forward. Sir Ahmadu Bello believed in the power of the youth and that is why he empowered us then as young people.

“The only way we can immortalize him is to live by his lessons and ideology which is youth empowerment, unity and tolerance. Through this summit, the young people  have proved that they are more than ready to champion the course of Northern development and they have what it takes to achieve that and turn around the our major plights as a region. I have no doubt in their capacity to take charge of the region’s economic, social and political development.” he said.

Coomassie said he is thrilled that the summit is the beginning of renewed unity of young people from Northern Nigeria, saying that it is timely and it will usher in a new dawn.

In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the summit, Mohammed Ibrahim Jega, said the concept of the summit is to discuss the challenges facing the North and then chart a new way for its development.

He said the youths, who are part of the summit, are professionals from different fields and are capable of contributing tremendously to the uplifting of the region through their wealth of knowledge and experience.
